Developing

In the lab: Malaria sporozoites develop inside oocysts in the mosquito midgut. They take around 17 days to fully develop. On the left side is a false coloured image of day 14 oocysts and on the right side is the original brightfield image taken on an widefield Zeiss Axiovert microscope using the 63x oil lens.  In green is where the sporozoites are inside the round oocysts. We can see 8 oocysts at least (one a bit hidden), not all at the same level of development.
